Apple Crypto Users at Risk from New Bug 🪲

Hey Cryptonians, listen up! Kaspersky has reported two super serious vulnerabilities that hackers can use to tap into your Apple devices and take a bite out of your sweet crypto.

The first is CVE-2023-28205 in the WebKit engine, which runs Safari, where someone can use a specially made malicious website to run code on your device.

The second is CVE-2023-28206 in the IOSurfaceAccelerator object, which lets you run code that bypasses operating system core permissions.

Hackers can combine these two vulnerabilities to Bonnie & Clyde their way into your phone. First penetrating your device through the WebKit and then running code with elevated permissions to do almost anything, including accessing your crypto wallets.

Even the Chrome worshippers and the Firefox fanatics aren’t safe. Every browser on an Apple mobile OS is required to use the WebKit engine (because of Apple’s “security and privacy considerations”). So the bad guys have a VIP pass to party in your device while you foot the bill no-matter what browser you use.

These vulnerabilities are lurking in macOS, iOS, iPadOS and tvOS. Not only the latest generations, but the previous ones too.

How can I protect my device?

Don't worry. These vulnerabilities were deemed so critical that Apple quickly released patches. Make sure you're running the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS (16.4.1) and macOS (13.3.1). And if you’re holding on to older devices, update to 15.7.5.

You don't want those shady hackers to steal your fuel and crash your crypto rocket ship before you make it to the moon!
